Disinterested Evangelization

As Christmas approaches...

One of the biggest mistakes people make with evangelization is to make it too personal. Yes, sharing the faith is important - souls are on the line. But when we can approach it disinterestedly, in the sense that we know that a) God loves these people more than we do and b) that their hearts will be transformed on a timeline that is not our own, then things go much better. We don't need to try to rush things or get frantic about what we are or aren't saying well enough. Focusing more on the needs of the other person, while also praying and sacrificing for them can go a long way. We can let their relationship with God unfold and we can get out of the way.
